Obituary

J.L. Harris, 80, passed away Saturday, April 27, 2013.
Service: 2 p.m. Thursday at Shannon Rose Hill Funeral Chapel. Interment: Shannon Rose Hill Memorial Park. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Shannon Rose Hill Funeral Chapel.
J.L. was born Dec. 3, 1932, in Fort Worth to Denzil and Fannie Harris. He married Dorothy on Dec. 24, 1953. After his service in the Air Force, he began working as a linotype operator for the Fort Worth Star-Telegram where he worked for 40 years. He was a former Employee of the Year for the Star-Telegram. He coached Little League baseball and was a great supporter in all of his children's activities. He enjoyed fishing in East Texas lakes, especially Lake Palestine where he retired in 1993. J.L. was also a Master Mason for over 50 years.
Survivors: Wife, Dorothy L. Harris; children, Daron and wife, T'Anna Harris, and Darohnn and husband, Ronald Pender; grandchildren, Matthew Harris, Cayce Harris, William Pender and Audrey Pender; brother, Verdo D. Harris and wife, Rosemary; and his brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins.
